Admissions officers consider whole applications—of which essays are only a part—but as they build a class, essays give them a sense of how applicants will contribute to the campus community.
Good essays reveal an applicant’s voice, values, and character. Because many schools do not interview applicants, essays help admissions officers get to know students as people.

I cannot guarantee admission anywhere, but I can help students craft essays that are vivid, specific, and more likely to stand out in the applicant pool.
And I can help students strategically position themselves in their applications to optimize their chances of success.
Students I’ve coached have been admitted to schools including: Harvard, Yale, Brown, University of Chicago, Amherst College, Northwestern, Emory University, UNC Chapel Hill, NYU, Washington University in St. Louis, Wesleyan University, Colgate University, Middlebury College, Colby College, Bates College, Tulane University, Denison University, University of Wisconsin at Madison, UC Santa Barbara, and University of St Andrews in Scotland.

I meet with students on Zoom. We begin with brainstorming exercises to inspire them to find their essay topics and their voice.
Then I give them deadlines and continue to meet with them as often as necessary to check their progress. They share drafts as Google docs, in which I make margin notes. I work with them on structure, review multiple drafts, and finally, help revise and polish their essays.
I don’t write essays for students, but with years of experience as an editor and writing teacher, I can empower students to tell their stories and tell them well.

I send an invoice at the end of each month and accept payment via Venmo or Zelle. Half of essay package fees are due upfront. I require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice to cancel or change any appointment; otherwise, you will be billed for my time.
